DESCRIPTION:With great excitement the Rancho Mirage Chamber of Commerce announces the next Summer Speaker Series.\n\n\n\nTourism Spotlight is presented by Harry Barrett\, Executive Director of Palm Springs International Airport and Joyce Kiehl\, Director of Communications at Visit Greater Palm Springs.\n\n\n\n\n\nHarry Barrett\n\n\n\nHarry Barrett is the Executive Director at Palm Springs International Airport in California. He has over 20 years in both military and civil aviation. Harry served as flight crew in the U.S. Air Force assigned to the E-3 AWACS based in Okinawa Japan and AC-130 Gunship aircraft while based in Fort Walton Beach Florida. He was appointed Lead Instructor and Flight Examiner\, certifying over 100  crewmembers in the Pacific Air Forces\, before transitioning to aviation management to lead the integration of three new the MQ-1 and MQ-9 drone squadrons into the DOD and intelligence programs. After separating from the military in 2012\, Harry started a career which started with Bellingham International Airport where is was employed as an Operations & ARFF Specialist. Harry's career took him to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport where he supervised landside operations before he accepted his first role as an Airport Manager with Renton Municipal Airport in Washington State. In 2020\, Harry accepted the role of Deputy Director of Operations and Maintenance with Palm Springs airport and was subsequently promoted to Assistant Airport Director before landing his most current role as the Executive Director.\n\n \n\n\nHarry is an Accredited Airport Executive. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautics from Embry-Riddle\, a Master of Public Administration from Park University and a Global MBA from Thunderbird School of Management at Arizona State University. He is the Chair of the Diversity\, Equity and Inclusion Committee for the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) and sits on AAAEs Board of Directors. He is also an Accredited Airport Executive.\n\nHarry is originally from Kansas City\, Missouri\, is passionate about exploring the world and is a foodie.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJoyce Kiehl\n\n\n\nJoyce Kiehl is the Director of Communications for Visit Greater Palm Springs. Visit Greater Palm Springs is the destination management organization for the Coachella Valley\, serving nine cities: Palm Springs\, Desert Hot Springs\, Cathedral City\, Rancho Mirage\, Palm Desert\, Indian Wells\, La Quinta\, Indio\, and Coachella. Kiehl works on all public\, media\, and film-industry relations efforts for the region as it relates to the tourism industry. She serves as a board member for the Rancho Mirage Chamber as well as a number of industry organizations including Destinations International\, Society of American Travel Writers and Visit California.\n\nA native of California\, Kiehl joined Visit Greater Palm Springs in 2009. Prior to that\, she worked as an entertainment publicist for KRON-TV in San Francisco. Kiehl began her career in radio at KTAR in Phoenix. Kiehl graduated from San Francisco State University with a degree in International Relations and Economics and received her accreditation public relations in 2022.
