Palm Springs, Calif. - Day 4 of the California Winter League kicked off with the AUX field game between the Alberta Grizzlies and the Canada A’s. Takushi Minakawa was the first man up on the bump for the A’s taking on a Grizzly team that had taken a hard-fought win a day ago. The Grizzlies would take the first run of the game with a Joseph Eichelberger single with two men on base, scoring Gonzalez in the 1st. It would not take long for run support to help out Minakawa after getting out of the first inning. Kevon Jackson led off in the following bottom of the first with a streaking double before becoming the first run scored by a sac-fly by Ryne Guida immediately after. The A’s would pummel Alberta’s starting pitcher Orlando Balderas in the following innings and explode in the 4th inning with homeruns from Paul Guillermo and Kevon Jackson during their explosive stretch. Minakawa would finish a solid outing with Connor Grimes closing out the game with a 13-4 victory, giving the A’s their first win of the season moving to 1-2.
