Big Brothers Big Sisters Site-Based Program Associate

This person will work with the Site-Based Program team to provide direct program service for Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Desert’s Site-Based mentoring program at our Mecca and Coachella site locations.
Essential to the Big Brothers Big Sisters brand, the primary function of this position is to ensure that volunteers and children are appropriately enrolled and matched while executing a high degree of independent judgment when utilizing Big Brothers Big Sisters standards and practices.
Our Site-Based program utilizes high school and college students as volunteer “BIGS” who are matched with children “Littles” who attend the Boys & Girls Club after school and during summer. Adult volunteers may also be used.
This staff member will be responsible for recruitment, enrollment, matching, match support and planning group activities for the Site-Based program. This person will be responsible for connecting with high school administrators, counselors or teachers to develop a relationship to recruit high school students to be mentors. The beginning of the school year is a busy time for this program staff due to on campus recruitment presentations and outreach tabling events. This person will also be responsible for recruitment of Boys & girls Club members to be “Littles” in the program and talking with Club parents about the program and the advantages of having their child participate. This person will work closely communicating with Boys & Girls Club staff to provide a smooth partnership and program development.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ability to work in a ‘team’ with other program service staff.
• Ability to be a Self-Starter and take responsibility for completing the required tasks in a timely manner to attain our program goals.
• Assess volunteer “fit” for Big Brothers Big Sisters. Conduct volunteer enrollments with prospective volunteers including: individual orientations, interviews, and completion of any other enrollment processes.
• Be at the site location on a regular basis to recruit Littles, talk with parents about the program, interact with Club staff and access match activities.
• Conduct child enrollments, review child safety education and enrollment processes. Assess and refer families for alternative or additional services as needed.
• Ensure a high-level of proficiency and skill in applying child safety and risk management knowledge, policies and procedures throughout all aspects of job function. Identify child safety issues for volunteers, children and their families.
• Review and follow-up on references as necessary to gain additional data to complete the assessment process.
• Review all enrollment information and assessments and make recommendations for participation in the program based on this information. Assess and apply factors contributing to successful match. Effectively align volunteer interests and qualifications with service options of agency . Consult with other service delivery staff and/or supervisor as appropriate.
• Must have good writing skills to provide comprehensive assessments and match support documentation and recommendations for volunteer and child participation in the program. Maintain accurate and timely records for each match according to standards and utilize technology to report, synthesize and analyze data.
• Determine matches and facilitate match meetings. Accommodate volunteer and family schedules.
• Volunteer recruitment presentations may be required. Being comfortable to talk in front of a group of people is important.
• Conduct required match support contacts with the volunteer, child and parent/guardian of the child match as required in our Standards of Practice and Casework Manual. Ensure child safety and positive development of the match relationship between the volunteer and child.
• Plan regular group activities for Site-Based Bigs and Littles.
• Ability to work flexible hours depending on the needs of the work responsibilities including late afternoons (which is when most enrollments and matching occurs) attending Big/Little events sponsored by the agency and fundraising events.
• Other duties as assigned when needed.
• Ability to have reliable transportation to travel is required.
