Animal Samaritans Free Spay/Neuter Clinic Brings Relief to Pet Owners in Need

Compassion in Action: Free Spay & Neuter Clinic Brings Relief to Pet Owners in Need

Animal Samaritans is proud to announce the successful completion of a community event held this past weekend at our Indio Veterinary Clinic. Animal Samaritans provided no-cost spay and neuter procedures to 32 big dogs – with an equal split of 16 females and 16 males – in a bid to curb pet overpopulation and ease the burden on local shelters.

A Community-Driven Initiative
Many pet owners in underserved areas, particularly from the Thermal and North Shore communities, have long struggled with the affordability of spay and neuter procedures. Numerous families shared that despite their willingness, the high costs – especially for larger dogs – had postponed necessary surgeries for months. In response to these pressing challenges, Animal Samaritans launched this free clinic, ensuring that no barriers, financial or logistical, would prevent pet owners from accessing quality care.

To eliminate any obstacles to treatment, our team even transported three dogs from the Thermal area to the clinic, further solidifying our commitment to comprehensive community support.

A Preventative Measure with Far-Reaching Impact
“Spay and neuter procedures are much more than routine surgeries – they are critical acts of prevention that significantly reduce unwanted litters, alleviate overcrowding in shelters, and contribute to the overall well-being of our pet community,” said Valerie Kattz, Marketing & PR Specialist at Animal Samaritans. Diana Martinez, Animal Samaritans Humane Educator, who helped organize the event says “Witnessing the relief and gratitude of pet owners during this event underscores why our work is so vital. Every surgery performed is a step towards a healthier, more sustainable future for both pets and their families.”

Animal Samaritans remains dedicated to providing essential veterinary services and educational resources, ensuring that every pet owner has access to affordable care. Financial assistance continues to be available for qualified pet owners, and additional information about our Veterinary Clinics can be found at animalsamaritans.org.
