CALIFORNIA ASSOCIATION OF PUBLIC CEMETERIES  
PRESENTS “MEL LEWIS MEMORIAL AWARD” 

 

Kathleen Jurasky, District Manager of the Palm Springs Cemetery District was presented the 
prestigious “Mel Lewis Memorial Award” at the 68th Annual Conference of the California 
Association of Public Cemeteries in Garden Grove, CA. on March 20, 2026.                            
The “Mel Lewis Memorial Award” is given to someone who has had a minimum of 5 years of 
CAPC sustaining or corporate membership and in good standing.  Ms. Jurasky has 26 years, and 
has continually maintained high professional standards.  
Commitment of time and energy to educating or working with others to improve and enhance 
their cemetery districts. Exhibits outstanding qualities in the cemetery profession as well as in 
their personal lives both at home and in the community, they serve and promote and further the 
values of CAPC.
