California Winter League 2026 Season Starts January 22nd
Palm Springs, Calif. - The California Winter League is excited to announce the schedule for the 17th season of CWL baseball.
Opening day is scheduled for Thursday, January 22nd at Palm Springs Stadium. Eight teams will compete in the 2026 CWL. A three-day postseason concludes the schedule with the CWL Championship Game on Sunday, February 15th. All games will be played at Palm Springs Stadium.
Games will be scheduled for 10 AM and 12:30 PM every day of the week during the season at Palm Springs Stadium. General admission tickets can be purchased at the stadium box office.
The upcoming winter season features a diverse field of teams hailing from across North America, organized into two competitive divisions. The Canadian Division showcases the Canada A’s, Alberta Grizzly, British Columbia Bombers, and the Manitoba North Stars. Representing the American Division are the Palm Springs Power, Palm Springs Chill, Oregon Lumberjacks, and Washington Blue Sox.
With a proven track record of advancing careers, the CWL serves as a premier bridge to professional baseball. Last season alone, more than one-third of the player base earned professional contracts, with over 40 athletes joining MLB Partner League teams. The 2025 season was further highlighted by the signings of John Taylor (Texas Rangers) and Sam Ruta (Kansas City Royals), both of whom are now active in affiliated baseball. These recent success stories add to a distinguished list of CWL alumni that includes World Series Champion Tyler Matzek (Atlanta Braves), Logan Gillaspie (Baltimore Orioles), and former Palm Springs Power standout Luke Barker (Milwaukee Brewers).
The CWL provides players with direct access to MLB scouts and managers representing all four MLB Partner Leagues. Highlighting this year’s coaching staff is former Major League skipper John McLaren, returning for his second season in the desert. He is joined by 2025 Pioneer League Champion-winning manager Aaron Miles, who also returns for his second stint in the CWL, bringing championship-caliber leadership to the dugout.
Daily promotions this season include Wine Mondays and Two for Tuesday with two tickets for the price of one. Fans have the opportunity for five five-dollar admission on both Locals’ Wednesday for Coachella Valley residents and Out of Towners’ Thursday for out-of-town US residents.
Weekend promotions are highlighted by Canada Day on Friday, where Canadian residents get in the ballpark for five dollars, three-dollar draft beers on Saturday and Family Day on Sunday with free admission for kids 12 and under and five-dollar discounted admission for all adults and seniors.
The 2026 CWL season offers more than just high-caliber baseball, with four major promotional dates highlighting the schedule. On Saturday, January 24th, the league is proud to host 'Across the Aisle Day,' featuring appearances by California gubernatorial candidates Chad Bianco (R) and Ian Calderon (D). The excitement continues at Palm Springs Stadium with Pride Day on January 31st, followed by City of Indian Wells Day on February 1st and City of Rancho Mirage Day on February 7th. On their respective city days, residents will receive free admission, a hot dog, a soda, and a commemorative drink koozie.
