A Virtual Way to Support Seniors Experiencing Homelessness
Indio, CA — Due to current economic challenges and the increasing demand for services, CVRM has decided to transition its annual fundraising gala to a “No Show Gala” virtual format. This innovative fundraising approach allows donors to make a meaningful impact from the comfort of their own homes.
This year’s theme, “Show Your Love! Helping Seniors Find Home and Hope,” focuses on the fastest-growing population experiencing homelessness: seniors aged 55 and older. Proceeds from the campaign will provide critical resources to help seniors transition to independent living and fund long-term support programs for those staying at the CVRM shelter.
“Our live gala has always been a cherished event, but we understand that times are challenging for many,” said Executive Director Darla Burkett. “By shifting to a ‘No Show Gala,’ we’re making it easier and more convenient for our community to support our mission while maximizing the impact of every dollar raised.”
How the “No Show Gala” Works
Instead of attending an in-person event, donors can purchase a “ticket” or contribute at different giving levels:
- $250: “No Show Gala Ticket”
- A night in for you, a lifeline for them.
- $500: “Host a Senior for a Month.”
- Cover housing and essentials.
- $1,000: “Sponsor a Path top Independence.”
- Fund job training and counseling.
- $2,500: “Community Hero”
- Sustain long-term case management programs.
- Choose Your Own Amount:
- Donate any amount that fits your budget and heart.
“We’ve seen success with virtual fundraising in the past, and we’re excited to bring this format back,” Darla Burkett added. “Our donors have always shown incredible generosity, and we’re confident they’ll embrace this new model with the same enthusiasm.”
