Rancho Mirage, CA — Cotino™, a Storyliving by Disney™ community, has been named the recipient of the Innovation Award, recognizing its groundbreaking approach to residential living and its imaginative integration of design, storytelling, and community connection in the heart of Rancho Mirage.
Cotino is the first community of its kind—an immersive new-home neighborhood designed by Disney Imagineers and developed by DMB Development. Rooted in the natural beauty of the desert and inspired by midcentury modern design, Cotino blends architecture, lifestyle, and Disney’s renowned storytelling and service to create a truly unique living experience.
In 2023, Disney set out to create not just homes, but a living story. That vision became reality as families began moving into thoughtfully designed residences that reflect the region’s character and natural splendor. In late 2025, Cotino opened its signature Artisan Club and welcomed its first homeowners, bringing imagination and innovation into everyday living.
At the heart of the community is Cotino Bay, a 24-acre turquoise lagoon surrounded by white-sand beaches, a mile-long promenade, and a variety of recreational activities including paddleboarding, kayaking, and swimming. Accessed through the voluntary Artisan Club, Cotino Bay serves as a centerpiece for connection, relaxation, and shared experiences.
Signature amenities further distinguish Cotino’s innovative design. The Artisan Club functions as a vibrant community hub, offering dining, fitness, creative workshops, and wellness spaces. The Parr House, a two-story venue inspired by Pixar’s Incredibles 2, adds whimsical elegance while reflecting Disney’s creative legacy. Open spaces and parks were envisioned by Disney Imagineers, while award-winning builders—including Shea Homes, Davidson Communities, Woodbridge Pacific, and Brian Foster Residences—offer a diverse range of homes that emphasize indoor-outdoor living.
Beyond its physical design, Cotino is committed to enriching the broader Rancho Mirage community. In 2025, Disney partnered with the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Coachella Valley, The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens, and the Children’s Discovery Museum of the Desert, reinforcing Storyliving by Disney’s mission to integrate cultural enrichment and community building into Cotino’s foundation.
With the Artisan Club and Parr House now open and residents actively shaping the next chapter of their story, Cotino is turning its attention to Cotino Bay Beach, Dining and Shops, scheduled to open in fall 2026. These new spaces will welcome both residents and visitors, featuring dining, shopping, open-air markets, and lagoon access.
