Ben & Jerry’s Free Cone Day Returns to The River to Benefit Children’s Discovery Museum of the Desert

 
Community Invited for Free Ice Cream and a Special 48th Birthday Celebration for Board Member Katie Slimko-Tuvell
 
RANCHO MIRAGE, CA – The coolest day of the year is back! On Tuesday, April 14, 2026, Ben & Jerry’s at The River in Rancho Mirage will host its annual Free Cone Day from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM. This year, the event is dedicated to creating curious leaders of tomorrow by supporting the Children’s Discovery Museum of the Desert (CDMoD).
 
While the world-famous ice cream is free for all attendees, the event serves as a vital fundraiser for CDMoD. This year’s celebration also marks a personal milestone for Katie Slimko-Tuvell, President/CEO of the Rancho Mirage Chamber of Commerce and a CDMoD Board Member. Katie is choosing to celebrate her 48th birthday at the event, inviting the entire Coachella Valley to join her in supporting the museum she has served since 1999.
 
"The Children’s Discovery Museum of the Desert has been such a significant part of my life for over 25 years," says Katie Slimko-Tuvell. "There is no better way to celebrate a birthday than by seeing our community come together to support our future leaders. I’m asking everyone to come out, enjoy a free scoop, and help us reach our donation goals for the museum. The best gift I could receive is seeing the CDMoD thrive for the next generation."
