GPL – Grandparents Love to Host “Family Paint Night” Fundraiser, August
28, in Palm Desert
Event will bring grandparents and grandchildren together for an evening of
creativity while raising funds for GPL’s Fresh Start back-to-school program
PALM DESERT, Calif. — GPL – Grandparents Love, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving
grandparent-headed households across the Coachella Valley, will host its Family
Paint Night fundraiser on Friday, August 28, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at
Shadow Mountain Golf Course in Palm Desert.
The event invites grandparents and the grandchildren they are raising to sit down
together and paint their own wine bottles using stencils and decorative props, then
add battery-operated lights to create a one-of-a-kind keepsake to take home. The
evening also includes food, wine, and a raffle with prizes.
Tickets are $55 per person, and proceeds directly support GPL’s Fresh Start
program, which provides children in grandparent-headed households with new school
clothes for the start of the school year.
“Raising grandchildren comes with a lot of love, and a lot of worry,” said Aristotle D.
McDaniel, President and Founder of GPL – Grandparents Love. “This event gives
grandparents and grandkids a night to simply enjoy being together, without cost
getting in the way. And every ticket sold helps make sure a child can start the school
year in clothes that are truly their own.”
GPL was founded in 2022 in memory of Jim and Marie McDaniel, who raised
grandchildren in the Indio/Coachella Valley area. Since then, the organization has
grown to serve grandparent-headed households throughout Riverside and San
Bernardino Counties, offering support that ranges from direct family assistance to
community events like Family Paint Night.
Family Paint Night is sponsored in part by Banc of California, Shadow Mountain Golf
Course, and One Hope Winery.
