Loving Way Foundation Brings Inaugural Serenity Suite to 20th International Conference on Shaken Baby Syndrome/Abusive Head Trauma
Coachella Valley nonprofit debuts caregiver wellness suite in Nashville, distributes original family safety resources, and brings national attention to the prevention of abusive head trauma
More than 400 conference attendees were invited to choose from a curated selection of sponsored wellness and beauty products to take home, a small but intentional gesture that resonated deeply with a community that spends its days caring for others.
Event footage from the Serenity Suite is available at https://www.instagram.com/reel/DeIBtelyLY5/.
"We have continued to hear just how much having a space to take a breath and receive some beautiful care items reminded them someone saw them, thought about them, and cared for them."
— 20th International Conference on SBS/AHT, Conference Leadership
"We went to Nashville to serve a community that rarely gets to be served, including detectives, district attorneys, social workers, medical professionals, and the families and survivors at the heart of this work. They entered the Serenity Suite and were reminded that they are seen, thought about, and cared for."
— Dawn McCoy, Founder, Loving Way Foundation
Original Family Safety Resources Debut at Conference
Alongside the gifting suite, Loving Way Foundation premiered two original resources created specifically for families and caregivers navigating the landscape of child safety.
The PROTECT Family Caregiver Guide is a practical tool designed to help families make informed, safer choices when selecting caregivers in any setting, whether in the home, at a care center, or with family members. Grounded in prevention, it gives parents and guardians the language and framework to ask the right questions before entrusting their child to someone else's care.
The I Feel Safe Sheet is a child-friendly resource designed for elementary-age children to help them recognize how safety feels, sounds, and looks in their everyday lives, and to identify three trusted adults they can turn to when they need help.
Both resources were distributed throughout the Serenity Suite and are available to download on the Loving Way Foundation website at lovingwayfoundation.org. Feedback gathered directly from conference attendees, including medical professionals, law enforcement, social workers, and advocates who work in this field every day, is actively informing the next iteration of both resources, making them stronger and more impactful with each phase of development.
Suite Made Possible by National Brand Partners
The Serenity Suite was stocked through the generosity of national and regional brand partners including Dove, Pixi Beauty, HigherDOSE, Laura Geller Beauty, ETUDE, PRMR, Luseta Beauty, Grace & Stella, Espoir, Fun & Function, Lynchburg Soap Company, Dry Water, and author Kelley Coleman. Loews Nashville Hotel served as the venue partner, providing the space and outstanding hospitality that made the experience possible.
