Martha’s Village & Kitchen Celebrates 20 Years of Community at Annual Thanksgiving Day 5K
Coachella Valley community invited to run, walk, and give back this Thanksgiving
INDIO, Calif. — October 2026 — This Thanksgiving, Martha’s Village & Kitchen invites the Coachella Valley community to come together for a special milestone: the 20th Annual Martha’s Village & Kitchen Thanksgiving Day 5K, taking place Thursday, November 26, 2026 on El Paseo in Palm Desert.
For 20 years, the Thanksgiving Day 5K has brought families, friends, businesses, volunteers, and neighbors together for a morning of movement, gratitude, and giving back. This year’s event is an opportunity to celebrate that tradition while supporting Martha’s Village and the individuals and families it serves in the Coachella Valley.
“Thanksgiving is about coming together, appreciating what we have, and remembering that we’re stronger when we care for one another,” said Miki Jordan, President & CEO of Martha’s Village. “Our Thanksgiving Day 5K is a wonderful reflection of that spirit. For 20 years, this community has shown up for Martha’s and for our neighbors, and we’re so grateful to celebrate this milestone together.”
Participants can run, walk, volunteer, or come out to cheer on their neighbors. This family-friendly and pet-friendly event offers an opportunity for everyone to make giving back part of their Thanksgiving tradition.
Every registration helps support Martha’s Village and its work to provide essential services and pathways toward stability for individuals and families experiencing homelessness and hardship. Through programs and services including food, shelter, healthcare, case management, employment assistance, early childhood education, and housing support, Martha’s Village works alongside community members as they take steps toward a more stable and independent future.
A Thanksgiving Tradition 20 Years in the Making The 20th anniversary makes this year’s Thanksgiving Day 5K especially meaningful. What began as a community event has grown into a beloved Thanksgiving tradition, bringing thousands of Coachella Valley neighbors together around a shared commitment to compassion and community.
Martha’s Village is grateful to the sponsors, volunteers, community partners, and participants who make the event possible year after year.
“We hope people will make this 20th anniversary celebration part of their Thanksgiving morning,” said Jordan. “Whether you’re running with friends, walking with your family, volunteering, or cheering from the sidelines, you’re helping make a difference for someone in our community.”
