Children’s Discovery Museum of the Desert Honors CEO Cindy Burreson’s 5-Year Milestone of Transformation and Vision
RANCHO MIRAGE, CA — The Board of Directors of the Children’s Discovery Museum of the Desert (CDMOD) is proud to celebrate Cindy Burreson on her five-year anniversary as President and CEO. Since taking the lead in 2021, Burreson has navigated the organization through its most pivotal era, transforming a pandemic-shuttered facility into a completely reimagined world of wonder known as “The Valley’s First Classroom.”
Stepping into her role at a time when the museum’s doors were closed, Burreson saw an opportunity to do more than just reopen; she saw a chance to reinvent. She spearheaded the total reimagination of a space that had remained largely unchanged for 25 years. Under her leadership, the facility was entirely gutted and rebuilt to meet the needs of today’s children, creating an environment that fosters curiosity through education, art, and science.
"What Cindy has accomplished since 2021 is a feat of leadership that few will ever experience," said the CDMOD Chairwoman of the Board of Directors Catherine Robinson. "She took a closed building and, with relentless dedication, built a new Board of Directors and a professional team from the ground up. Her vision has ensured that the museum is in capable, steady hands as we look toward the future."

With the successful reimagination of the physical space and the assembly of a passionate team, the museum is now entering its most critical phase of community partnership. As a private nonprofit, the continued operation and growth of CDMOD depend on a dedicated base of supporters.
