Rotary Clubs of the Coachella Valley and LifeStream Unite for Community Blood Drive
COACHELLA VALLEY, Calif. - The Rotary Clubs of the Coachella Valley and LifeStream Blood Bank are joining forces for the Coachella Valley Community Blood Drive, culminating Saturday, September 19, with a valley-wide day of giving under the message, “Together, We Give Blood. Together, We Save Lives.”
Mobile blood drives will be held September 19 at the Palm Springs Police Department Training Center and Palm Desert Family YMCA. Those unable to donate at a mobile drive that day can participate at LifeStream donor centers in Rancho Mirage and La Quinta from September 13-19. Donors participating at either donor center should use campaign code 9SUR when registering so their donation is credited to the Rotary campaign.
LifeStream is the primary blood provider to Coachella Valley hospitals, making local blood donations especially important to patients receiving care here in the desert. Blood supplies can quickly reach critically low levels, making a consistent and reliable donor base essential. Shortages can affect surgeries, trauma care and other treatments requiring timely blood transfusions. Blood cannot be manufactured and must come from volunteer donors, making every donation important to maintaining an adequate
supply for local hospitals and patients.
The campaign will also address another critical community need. Together, LifeStream Blood Bank and the Rotary Clubs of the Coachella Valley will make a donation to FIND Food Bank in support of its work fighting hunger throughout our region. The partnership is especially timely because September is Hunger Action Month, a nationwide effort to raise awareness and inspire action to address food insecurity. Through this community campaign, donors can help strengthen the local blood supply while LifeStream and Rotary extend the spirit of giving by supporting FIND Food Bank and its mission to help individuals and families throughout the Coachella Valley.
“This campaign is a wonderful example of Rotary's commitment to being People of Action,” said Kevin Taylor,
Community Service Chair for the Rotary Club of Palm Springs Sunup and one of the campaign organizers. “By
rolling up our sleeves, we can help save lives while also generating support for FIND Food Bank. One act of
giving can have an incredible ripple effect throughout our community.”
