RANCHO MIRAGE, CA – The popular outdoor movie series Films in the Gardens returns to Sunnylands Center & Gardens in May with a trio of films that transport viewers to wondrous new worlds.
Screened on three consecutive Fridays, the movies are:
- May 2 at 7:30 pm – Spy Kids (2001) – Armed with high-tech gadgets, young Carmen and Juni become globe-trekking spies to save their parents, and perhaps even the world, from an evil mastermind. (IMDb). Rated: PG. Run time: 1 hour 28 minutes.
- May 9 at 7:30 pm – Hook (1991) – When Captain James Hook kidnaps his children, an adult Peter Pan must return to Neverland and reclaim his youthful spirit in order to challenge his old enemy (IMDb). Rated: PG. Run time: 2 hours 22 minutes.
- May 16 at 7:30 pm – The Goonies (1985) – A group of young misfits discover an ancient map and set out on an adventure to find a legendary pirate’s long-lost treasure (IMDb). Rated: PG. Run time: 1 hour 54 minutes.
All films begin at 7:30 p.m., with Sunnylands’ gates opening at 6 p.m. Admission is free.
While reservations are not required, carpooling is strongly encouraged. No food or seating is provided. Filmgoers are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets, and small picnics. Large coolers, alcohol, smoking, and pets are not permitted.
Films may be canceled at any time due to weather conditions, including rain, lightning, or strong winds.
